Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Applied Aerodynamics Engineer at the Huntsville, AL campus to support design and analysis of missile and aviation systems. You will apply analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools, assist in aerodynamic trade studies, performance assessments, testing, and the development of high-fidelity characterizations.

Job description

The Kinetic Effects Business Area, within the Leidos Defense Sector, has an opportunity for an Applied Aerodynamics Engineer to work at our Huntsville, AL campus supporting design and analysis of missile and aviation systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• applying analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles.
• supporting aerodynamic design trade studies, performance assessments, testing, and development of high-fidelity aerodynamic characterizations of flight vehicles.

Basic Qualifications

• MS degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering and 0+ years of aerospace applied aerodynamics experience.
• Demonstrated capabilities in programming languages Python or Matlab.
• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to collaborate constructively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Be willing to try and learn new skills, and to refine existing skills.
• Must be a US citizen and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
• The candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area, or willing to relocate, to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL campus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with industry-standard aerodynamic prediction tools and experience in wind tunnel testing.
• Prior experience with computational fluid dynamics.

Pay Range

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
