Job summary

RTI International is seeking a junior level Systems Analyst to support informatics for clinical and epidemiological research studies within the Center for Data Coordination Technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain research information systems.

You will gain experience across data collection, management, and reporting solutions and have opportunities to lead informatics efforts on select projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's in Public Health, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics or related field; or a Bachelor's + 1 year related experience.
  • Experience: participation on a team developing technical solutions in research contexts.
  • Ability to work independently and on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams, system programmers, and data managers to design and implement research information systems.
  • Develop, document, test, and maintain new applications and enhance existing ones.
  • Support data collection and management strategies with the data management team.
  • Prepare and distribute study documents and materials to research sites.

About the Hiring Group

The Center for Data Coordination Technology (DCT) is seeking a junior level systems analyst to assist in the development and management of informatics efforts for clinical and epidemiological research studies. DCT provides informatics leadership and support of pre-clinical research, clinical trials, and observational studies, including expertise in data collection, management, and reporting solutions. The person in this role will be a key member of the research team, supporting the development and maintenance of informatics solutions that achieve study goals and objectives.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with research project teams, system programmers, and data managers to plan, design, and implement research information systems.
  • Assist with the analysis of requirements, design, document, and test new applications as well as maintain and support existing applications.
  • Collaborate with data management team to develop and implement data collection and data management strategies.
  • Prepare and distribute study documents and materials including data collection forms and technical memos to research sites.
  • Provide technical support to clinical research projects, with the opportunity to lead informatics efforts.
  • Support standards and methods for informatics and data collection efforts.
  • Participate in encoding, testing, and debugging, as necessary to meet project specific goals.
  • Commit to high standards of quality and participate in quality initiatives.
  • Research, learn, and apply new methodologies and/or technologies.
What You'll Need

Education and Experience:

Master's degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, or other related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics or other related disciplines plus at least 1 year related professional experience or equivalent experience. This is defined as a combination of performance, education and prior directly related experience will be considered as equivalent to the above requirements provided that the individual possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job requirements satisfactorily.

Required:

  • Experience participating on a team developing technical solutions in the context of research studies.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the study and applications development project teams.
  • Ability to work successfully on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of process standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status,

Preferred:

  • Client-focused research applications knowledge.
  • Experience collaborating with teams of technical developers and/or data managers for multi-site studies or data coordinating center projects.
  • Experience using data analytics tools such as R, Python, SQL, SAS, Stata, or SPSS.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages and methodologies, including .NET, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Python.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems such as Medidata RAVE, or REDCap.
  • Some knowledge of clinical and epidemiological research, and implementation of data collection systems.
  • Strong interest in science and health issues.
