Job summary

ITW is seeking an Aluminum Applications Engineer to become the technical expert for aluminum wire products and welding processes. You will collaborate with customers, distributors, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver solutions that improve welding performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The role requires hands‑on problem solving, technical leadership, and the ability to translate complex welding challenges into actionable applications for customers and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering is required.
  • Strong application knowledge of welding processes and manufacturing technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers to understand technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed, data‑driven recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and training capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and customer groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary application expert for aluminum wire products and welding processes.
  • Provide application support, technical recommendations, troubleshooting assistance, and product expertise to the Aluminum Business Unit, ITW Welding organization, sales teams, channel partners, and end users.
  • Support growth initiatives and customer retention efforts through technical project leadership and application expertise.
  • Perform product evaluations and create key application and performance data to support customer requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports on product evaluations, field testing, and customer projects.
  • Consult with customers remotely and onsite to identify challenges and implement solutions that optimize welding performance and value.
  • Conduct technical training sessions, both theoretical and hands‑on, for internal teams, distributors, and end users.
  • Perform competitive analysis of welding products and technologies within the marketplace.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key manufacturing and welding process variables that impact final product quality.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve manufacturing weld lab procedures, testing protocols, and laboratory personnel activities.
  • Analyze returned products and support root cause investigations and corrective action efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through technical expertise, data analysis, and problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications
