Job summary

Brooks is seeking an Applications Engineer (m/f/d) to support OEM and end-user customers in solving high-value problems with our automation product lines. You will be the product-use case expert, assist customers and regional sales staff, and drive design-in opportunities.

The role involves Demonstrating features, providing technical guidance, and supporting product integrations at customer sites. Travel up to 50% is expected.

  • Experience in a customer-facing role and ability to relate to diverse customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support applications in vacuum automation and wafer handling systems.
  • Work with sales to determine customer needs and demonstrate product features.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and product integration guidance at customer sites.
  • Demonstrate product capabilities, sign off on first articles, and handle product escalations.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product engineering, and service teams to meet customer requirements.

We are looking for our next Applications Engineer (m/f/d) as we accelerate our growth journey. The Applications Engineer position will be customer facing position will work closely with, and support, our OEM and end-user customers to solve their stimulating & high-value problems through the application of our automation product lines in close corporation with Product team and Engineering.

The ideal teammate will promote our growth by becoming the product use-case expert for our customers and provide their technical expertise to both customers and our regional sales staff in sponsor of Design-In Win opportunities.

What you will do:
  • Applications Vacuum Automation
  • Work alongside the sales team to determine what the customer really needs.
  • Be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and motivated by a challenge.
  • Have a "can-do" mentality, and willing to roll up their sleeves to help a colleague or customer.
  • Becoming an expert with our products' use-cases, e.g., vacuum automation robots & wafer handling systems, atmospheric wafer handling systems, loadports, underlying motion controls & software, to provide pre-sales technical support to our customers and account teams.
  • Guiding product integrations at customer sites as well as directly working on the products for:
  • Demonstrating product features and performance
  • First Article sign-off
  • Product escalations
  • Debugging complex issues with the Field Service staff
  • Working objectively and as a team member to quickly respond to customer needs.
  • Answering questions from OEM customers about all aspects of our products
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers to become their technical interface and trusted advisor .
  • Understanding Customers' applications and markets
  • Preparing detailed product specifications to define solutions to meet customers' high value applications.
  • Working with the sales, & marketing staff to identify, assess and prioritize potential customers and applications of our products.
  • Communicating customer needs and wishes to our marketing, & product engineering staff and launching internal projects for customer requests, leading to new Products, Product enhancements, features or software.
  • Supporting customer visits, attending & presenting at trade shows and seminars
  • Developing and delivering demonstrations to win opportunities.
What you will bring:
  • Technical ability to read a drawing, understand how it works, and electrical/mechanical skills.
  • Self-starter that is inquisitive, excellent problem-solving skills, and motivated by a challenge.
  • Fast learner, a great teammate, have a "can-do, no fear" mentality, and willing to roll up their sleeves to help a colleague or customer.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Understanding of electronic components such as sensors, switches, relays, actuators, etc. Able to understand system-level wiring diagrams.
  • Helpful, patient and possesses the ability to relate to many types of people.
  • Able to work through problems systematically and document the findings.
  • Strong commitment to goals and team-first attitude.
  • Experience in 2D CAD, 3D CAD is a plus.
  • Basic Experience with scripting Languages or programming.
  • Able to travel internationally including USA.
  • Up to 50% travel; plannable.
