Qualifications

  • Test and harden features through firmware/hardware changes in real scenarios.
  • Prepare demonstrations, training, testing, and bug recreations for the Sales Engineering team.
  • Create and maintain customer-facing documents and content (manuals, guides, videos).
  • Support RMA and Loaner processes with guidance and equipment recommendations.
  • Travel up to 25% to provide on-site engineering support.

Job Description

We’re looking for an Applications Engineer‑I who will report to the Senior Applications Engineer on the Sales Engineering team. The successful candidate will conduct a wide range of technical activities relating to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support. The role works closely with customers and the Sales team to drive product development and enable the development of cutting‑edge systems and technologies.

The responsibilities include defining and testing new products and features, assisting customers and the sales team with technical support requests, performing technical analysis and system‑integration duties, and engineering complete solutions to complex problems. The role requires up to 25% travel, both domestic and international.

Location: Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA. Hybrid schedule – minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). Other days onsite are scheduled as needed.

Role And Responsibilities
  • Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
  • Define new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field trials.
  • Provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in person.
  • Participate in an off‑hour, on‑call support rotation as needed.
  • Work individually and with Engineering teams to support requests via in‑house or field testing and validation.
  • Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
  • Support the Sales Engineering team by preparing for demonstrations, training, testing, or recreating bugs and issues seen in the field.
  • Create and maintain customer‑facing documents and content including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc.
  • Oversee and assist the RMA and Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
  • Travel up to 25% to provide in‑person engineering support to customers and the sales team.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio‑frequency and data‑network test equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross‑functional teams and customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attentiveness to detail.
  • Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
  • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a background check and drug test.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
  • Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio‑frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
  • Experience with testing embedded radio communication systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Office environment.
  • Trade shows.
  • Outdoor environment for demos and testing.
  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
    • Lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for the setup of demonstrations and testing.
    • Walk and move in the labs.
Compensation

$75,000 – $95,000 annually.
