Job summary

Morris Group, Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer to program CNC machines, develop process improvements, and train customers in an industrial setting. The role includes technical pre-sales activities, cost estimation, and detailed proposals, with travel to customer sites across Indiana and the northern half of Illinois.

A hybrid work arrangement applies, combining remote and in-office duties. You will contribute by programming CNC lathes and mills, performing part processing

Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machine tools and part programming.
  • Ability to develop turnkey proposals and evaluate opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations across Indiana and northern Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-sale activities: customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessments, turnkey proposals.
  • Write engineering reports and interpret plans and specs.
  • Program and set up CNC lathes and vertical/horizontal mills.
  • Develop and implement customer demonstrations and training on CNC centers and lathes.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of represented product lines.

Summary of Responsibilities:

As an Applications Engineer, you are responsible for the part programming of CNC Machine Tools, process development and customer training in an industrial environment using state-of-the-art equipment. This opportunity offers a hybrid schedule that consists of both remote and in-office work as well as regular travel to customer locations across Indiana and the northern half of Illinois.

What You Will Contribute:
  • Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations and development of turnkey proposals

  • Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications

  • Programming and setting up CNC lathes, CNC vertical or horizontal mills.

  • Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers andlathes.

  • Maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the comp
