Job summary

Jackson Lewis P.C. in the United States seeks an Applications Engineer to implement, administer, and support enterprise applications used by attorneys and staff, focusing on reliability, security, and lifecycle management.

You will own technical issues, automate workflows, monitor performance, and collaborate with Information Security, vendors, and legal teams to deliver secure, efficient solutions across the firm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years administering and supporting enterprise applications.
• Experience installing, configuring, monitoring, upgrading, and patching enterprise apps.
• Experience supporting SaaS and cloud-based enterprise apps.
• Experience with identity/auth technologies (SSO, SAML, OAuth, Entra ID/AAD, MFA, certificates).
• Experience with REST APIs, web services, or integration technologies.
• Designing or supporting highly available apps (load balancing, redundancy, DR, BC).
• Strong security understanding (RBAC, least-privilege, vulnerability remediation).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; log/integration analysis.
• Proven ability to own issues/projects and drive automation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; cross-team collaboration.
• Strong organizational skills in a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner for assigned enterprise and legal apps.
• Configure, administer, maintain, and support enterprise apps lifecycle.
• Support legal technology platforms (NetDocuments, Litera, Intapp, MS 365 add-ins).
• Plan, test, deploy, and support implementations, upgrades, patches, and integrations.

• Monitor availability, performance, capacity, integrations, and scheduled processes.
• Troubleshoot complex issues; coordinate with teams and vendors.

Position Summary

The Applications Engineer implements, administers, integrates, and supports enterprise applications used by attorneys and legal professionals across the firm, with responsibility for application reliability, security, and lifecycle management. This role combines strong application support expertise with an understanding of legal technology and business workflows to deliver secure, efficient solutions and improve the user experience. As a technical owner, the Applications Engineer improves application performance and reliability through proactive monitoring, automation, and effective resolution of complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and subject-matter expert for assigned enterprise and legal applications.
• Configure, administer, maintain, and support enterprise applications throughout their lifecycle.
• Support legal technology platforms, including NetDocuments, Litera, Intapp, Microsoft 365 add-ins, and other cloud-based and on-premises applications used by the firm.
• Plan, test, deploy, and support application implementations, upgrades, patches, integrations, and new functionality in accordance with change and release management processes.
• Develop automation to streamline application administration, deployment, monitoring, reporting, and support.
• Proactively monitor application availability, performance, capacity, integrations, and scheduled processes, identifying and resolving issues before they materially affect users.
• Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve incidents.
• Partner with Information Security to implement and maintain appropriate application security controls, including permissions, authentication, service accounts, and vulnerability remediation.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, support procedures, configuration standards, and operational runbooks.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including escalations and product roadmap discussions, to resolve issues and optimize the firm's use of supported technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and share knowledge with other members of the Practice Technology and IT teams.
• Participate in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, and escalation support when required.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience administering and supporting enterprise applications.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrading, and patching enterprise applications throughout their lifecycle.
• Experience supporting SaaS and other cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Experience with identity and authentication technologies such as SSO, SAML, OAuth, Entra ID/Azure AD, MFA, certificates, and service accounts.
• Experience working with REST APIs, web services, or other application integration technologies.
• Proven experience designing or supporting highly available applications, including load balancing, redundancy, failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Strong understanding of application security principles, including role-based and least-privilege access, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze logs, integrations, application dependencies, and complex issues spanning multiple systems.
• Demonstrated ability to own technical issues and projects, drive them to completion, and improve reliability through automation and process improvement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and collaborate effectively with technical teams, business departments, vendors, attorneys, and legal professionals.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a large, complex enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with legal technology platforms such as NetDocuments, Litera, Intapp, document automation platforms, or comparable products.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, and related application integrations.
• Experience supporting or integrating generative AI and other AI technologies within enterprise applications.
• Experience participating in enterprise-scale application implementations or migrations.
• Experience within a law firm, legal services organization, or professional services environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science or related fields.

For New York City, San Francisco, the expected salary range for this position is between $154,000 and $180,000. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

For White Plains NY, Washington DC area, Illinois and Washington State, the expected salary range for this position is between $148,000 and $178,750. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
