Applications Engineer (Auburn Hills, MI)

Position: Applications Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Type: Direct position

Responsibilities

Summary: Act as the interface between the company's technical staff and OEM customers, facilitating communication and technical support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain product charts for current and future programs.
• Determine customer requirements for new products and report to technical and commercial teams.
• Monitor and resolve program technical issues.
• Facilitate meetings between customers and the company or JV partners.
• Provide technical support to sales staff.
• Identify and report potential business opportunities or issues.
• Support vehicle assembly plants with design issues.
• Track design milestones and prototype material requirements.
• Manage customer change statuses and drawings communication.
• Negotiate specifications and meet customer requirements using company technology.
• Collaborate with customer engineers on system and product concepts.
• Request budget and build directions for vehicle builds.
• Write, track, and approve engineering work orders and changes.
• Coordinate with suppliers for parts shipment and CAD data management.
• Support launch issues and review engineering changes.
• Maintain communication via email and voicemail with customers and internal teams.
• Act as the product expert and focal point.
• Attend vehicle level PDTs and internal reviews.
• Participate in warranty reviews and disposition of warranty parts.
• Assist in obtaining necessary PPAP approvals.

Education and Experience

• Ability to build and maintain relationships; willing to travel globally.
• Knowledge of 5 Phase, 6S, etc. helpful.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with supplier integration and APQP documents.
• Product Line Experience: Cargo Doors, Landing Gear, Power Lift Gate, etc.
