Job summary

The Raymond Corporation is seeking an Applications Engineer to support Carolina Handling within the Intralogistics Solutions Group. You will coordinate technical activities across departments, design solutions, and assist in proposals and demonstrations.

You will develop facility layouts, create bills of materials, and stay current on warehouse technologies. Travel to customer sites is expected as part of project support.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in material handling sales or other similar industries preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Proficient in basic pricing and bill of materials preparation for quoting purposes.
  • Visio or other related flow diagram software preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of information accurately and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist sales representatives with system specification analysis to provide clear, documented, and coordinated requirements.
  • Support site surveys for projects, complete administrative requirements to build accurate bills of material and quotes.
  • Partner with core sales representatives to evaluate customer requirements and present value-added products and services.
  • Conduct compelling demos, assist with sales presentations, and train the sales force as needed.
  • Review and design solutions, create facility layouts, prepare bills of material, collect vendor pricing, and support customer proposals.
  • Liaise with other departments and external sources to address technical questions and assist with any impacts on the implementation schedule.
  • Coordinate with Carolina Handling, Raymond, and other vendor personnel during initial site-related activities to identify technical requirements.
  • Research and recommend emerging material handling and racking solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of stick racking systems, related components, and sales/commercial acumen.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the latest installation procedures and options, including pictures of various warehouse sites.
  • Network with other dealer resources and establish a support group.
  • Attend workshops, trade shows, and seminars to stay current on industry trends and changes.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives.

Job Summary As an Applications Engineer within our Intralogistics Solutions Group, you will promote Carolina Handling both internally and externally, working closely with Sales and Operations. You will support the sale of racking and other non-automation material handling solutions by coordinating and supporting technical activities across multiple departments, systems, and workflows. You may handle straightforward technical requirements independently or seek assistance from internal resources, Raymond, or other vendor partners to discover and develop all necessary technical requirements for each project.

Responsibilities
Sales Support

Requirements

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position is classified as medium work, involving the operation of motor vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as movement to complete tasks or transition between work sites. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for equipment operation, computer use, writing, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This role entails working in a dynamic environment, encompassing both office-based tasks and visits to customer sites, involving regular interaction with internal and external customers. Travel to customer locations for sales calls and presentations is a requirement, potentially exposing the individual to diverse environments, including the risk of encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals if proper safety protocols are not followed. Additionally, the role often involves exposure to various outdoor weather conditions. The individual in this position must adeptly manage strict deadlines, shifting priorities, and a high volume of information flow while consistently upholding professionalism. Standard office equipment such as laptops and smartphones are routinely utilized, and noise levels typically range from moderate to high.

Travel Requirements:

Daily/Weekly travel to customer sites is required; Occasional overnight travel may be required based on the location and scope of the project, for meetings and/or conferences.
