Job summary

Milliken's Performance & Consumer Innovations division seeks an Applications Development Scientist or Engineer to support the evaluation, development, and commercialization of new technologies for consumer product applications.

This role will design and execute lab testing programs, develop robust screening methodologies, generate actionable technical insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate product development.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Textile Engineering, Consumer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years with a B.S.; 5+ years with an M.S.; or 3+ years with a Ph.D. industrial experience in applications development or R&D.
• Strong laboratory and analytical skills with structured experimental programs.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and refine laboratory methods to evaluate new materials and formulations.
• Design screening protocols to identify promising technologies and compare performance.
• Conduct experiments, analyze data, and make data-driven recommendations.
• Support scale-up and commercialization with application-focused testing.
• Collaborate with R&D, product managers, and commercial teams.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
