The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. Job Overview:
This position resides in the Technology Services Division (TSD) of Department of Revenue. The Chief Applications Officer (CAO) manages the Applications Development Bureau (ADB), analyzes and designs customized technology systems based on the requirements of available IT systems, Departmental needs, budgetary requirements, and user ability. The incumbent is responsible to upper management for evaluating and recommending technical development of information systems and has primary responsibility for project management, systems analysis, systems design, maintenance, data quality, technical assistance, and problem resolution relative to computer applications on any platform. This position supervises the ADB staff and reports to the Technology Services Division (TSD) Administrator / Chief Information Officer.

This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.

The above competencies are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, engineering, or closely related field; and five years of job-related experience including three years in a lead role or management experience.
Work experience should include applications development, project management, experience in managing and delivering multiple projects simultaneously and in learning and adapting to proprietary software.
Working knowledge of web applications, applications testing and change control preferred.
