Job summary

Emerson in Austin, TX is seeking an Application Engineering Manager to lead the application engineering team in supporting global business development and sales teams in technical applications of Test & Measurement products.

You will recruit, mentor, and develop engineers; collaborate with Marketing, Sales & R&D; drive execution excellence and manage change as business needs evolve. Travel up to 25% will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic/international).
  • General test and measurement knowledge.

Job Description

The Application Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the application engineering team to support global business development and sales teams in technical applications of Test & Measurement products. The individual in this role will oversee the daily activities of Application Engineers, who review customers’ technical needs and recommend solutions, and inspire a culture of innovation towards new solutions for customers’ challenges.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Recruiting, Developing, and Mentoring talent, including development engineers and applications engineers with unique expertise spanning multiple target industries and geographies.
  • Build and maintain the team’s overall expertise in Emerson Test & Measurement equipment and their applications.
  • Collaborate with Business Managers, Marketing, Sales & R&D to align the team’s execution to growth strategy and short-term business needs.
  • Engage with sales to drive customer engagements, through mutual understanding and prioritization of efforts, to achieve shared business goals.
  • Manage ambiguity and drive change management as business strategy evolves.
  • Drive engineering execution excellence.
  • Handle special projects or tasks assigned by management.

You are an effective leader who efficiently directs teams, and mentors staff. You excel in managing complexity, optimizing workflows, and driving execution. Your excellent communication skills enable seamless collaboration with collaborators, ensuring adaptive responses to challenges and successful project execution.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%), both domestic and international
  • General test and measurement knowledge
  • Only U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 22 CFR 120) may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Experience with project management and working with remote teams
  • 5+ years of team or project management experience
  • LabVIEW programming skills and any NI hardware and software experience
  • 3+ years’ experience managing an engineering, application, or technical sales team
