Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is hiring an Application Security Engineer to implement, validate, and maintain security controls across all tiers of our hospital’s application stack.

You will work with infrastructure, vulnerability management, and vendors to mitigate application-layer risks and enforce secure-by-default deployments. The role requires hands-on validation, troubleshooting, and strong communication to translate risk into business impact within

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or related field.
3–7+ years of experience in application security or enterprise application support.
Experience in large enterprise environments with multiple commercial applications and integrations.
Healthcare provider experience is desirable; security certifications beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Serve as central authority for application and integration risk across 250+ applications.
Identify and reduce application-layer risk across third-party apps and APIs.
Interface with application vendors and owners; collaborate with other departments as needed.
Assess internet-facing applications and prioritize remediation of high-risk entry vectors.
Enforce security controls for authentication, authorization, credential management, and encryption.
Drive remediation of vulnerabilities identified via vulnerability scanning and security testing.
Improve visibility and governance over application security posture and progress.
