Job summary

Awardco is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our IT & Security team in Utah. You will partner with product, engineering, and operations to design, build, and ship secure features while owning the secure software development lifecycle.

You’ll drive secure coding practices and help scale a multi-tenant SaaS platform with cloud-native components. You will embed security into planning and delivery, lead threat modeling, and influence architecture with secure patterns.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in application security or software engineering with a strong security focus for web apps or APIs.
• Hands-on experience securing cloud-hosted, multi-tenant SaaS apps on a major public cloud.
• Deep familiarity with web and API security fundamentals (auth, authz, session management, data validation, encryption, multi-tenant isolation).
• Experience with modern programming languages (JS/TS, Java, C#, Python, Go) and reading production code.
• Experience with SAST/DAST and container scanning; CI/CD security integration.

Responsibilities

• Embed security checkpoints into planning, design, development, testing, and release processes.
• Partner with engineering leads to ship features with security built in, not bolted on.
• Perform targeted secure code reviews for high-risk features and components.
• Configure and tune SAST, DAST, dependency, and container scanning to highlight real risk.
• Integrate AI-assisted security tools into developer workflows to improve signal and remediation speed.
• Triage, prioritize, and track remediation of application and API vulnerabilities across the stack.
• Build and deliver pragmatic secure coding training tailored to our tech stack.
