Job summary

ABB is offering an internship in engineering and automation where you will gain hands-on experience through diverse projects and support ABB’s operations while expanding your technical education. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and learn to apply automation concepts in real-world settings.

The role is onsite/hybrid in Chicago, IL or Alpharetta, GA. No relocation stipend is offered; candidates must reside within 50 miles and arrange their own commuting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field in the United States.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite and manage own commuting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to support ABB operations and ensure timely project completion.
• Identify client solutions based on customer needs and ABB offerings.
• Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and provide updates.
• Assist in development and testing of automation software.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
• Create technical sales demonstrations.
• Develop documentation and user manuals for automation systems.
• Attend project meetings and manage department equipment inventories.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Chicago, IL, or Alpharetta, GA.

Please note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Collaborating with various teams to support ABB’s operations, ensuring effective coordination and timely project completion within the defined timelines.
• Leveraging insights about customer needs and ABB’s offerings to identify suitable solutions for clients, leading to project results that meet customer expectations.
• Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts.
• Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.
• Assist in the development and testing of automation software

• Assist with the creation of technical sales demonstrations

Qualifications for the role:

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
