Job summary

Copeland is seeking an experienced Application Engineer in the United States region to support HVACR product applications, conduct trainings, and manage warranty issues. The role focuses on customer queries, software-assisted design, and collaboration with Sales and manufacturing teams.

The candidate should have 8–10 years in HVACR, a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, and be prepared to travel regionally to support customers and partners.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of experience in HVACR design, projects, service, technical support, or training.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, Refrigeration Systems and controls.
  • Willingness to travel across Africa region.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to technical queries from customers; collaborate with distributors and OEMs.
  • Support customers with product selection and heat load calculation software.
  • Lead MEA NBO for refrigeration products with Sales.
  • Develop and deliver technical training on controllers and protections.
  • Manage warranty claims and perform RCA with data logging.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve product performance.

Key Responsibilities
Application Engineering Support (60%)
  • Swift response to technical queries from customers. Work closely with distributors, contractors and OEMs to provide suitable solutions for their project requirements. Assist customers in using product selection software.
  • Assist customers in using heat load calculation software.
  • Assist customers in refrigerant line components selection, selection of suitable electrical switch gears, refrigerant line sizing etc.,
  • Maintain a technical library, support the creation of catalogs, application engineering bulletins, and user manuals. Develop cross reference documents with competition. Alternate Refrigerant engagement with customers. Explore new applications in the region. Support semi hermetic compressor to scroll transition.
  • Lead NBO for refrigeration products in MEA working together with the Sales organization.
Technical Training (20%)
  • Develop and manage a training calendar and create technical training materials.
  • Deliver training sessions include hands-on training on controllers and protections used in condensing units and compressors.
  • Coordinate the tools and resources needed for the training center.
Quality & Warranty Management (20%)
  • Manage warranty claims and provide troubleshooting support for both production and field failures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) through data logging, field visits, and compressor teardown analysis.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing plants, providing feedback to improve product performance.
  • Analyze and maintain warranty data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience:
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in HVACR design, projects, service, technical support, or training within the HVACR industry.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, Refrigeration Systems and controls.
  • Technical expertise in troubleshooting and application support.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across multicultural teams.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and technical software tools.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel across Africa region.
  • Ability to work outside typical office environments when required.
