Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced engineer (mechanical or chemical) to design and analyze processes for energy and manufacturing projects. The role involves creating designs from client specifications, ensuring adherence to the basis of design, and visiting manufacturing sites to validate conditions.

The position requires SolidWorks proficiency, experience with P&IDs/SLDs/GA, and strong thermodynamics knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience writing and maintaining design procedures for multiple engineering disciplines.
• Experience writing designs based on engineering deliverables.
• Experience with P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, and General Arrangements.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications and client requirements to generate proper designs.
• Ensure disciplines follow the basis of design after award.
• Visit shop floor at manufacturing sites to assess conditions.
• Undertake engineering and design work independently.
• Analyze and calculate optimum weather design points for project locations.
• Design and specify process around the optimum design point.
• Develop tools for thermal performance analysis to evaluate system performance.
• Present technical solutions and financial implications to leadership.
• Support business development with bids, studies, and client presentations.
• Prepare internal bid strategies and external publication materials for marketing.

Job description

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience writing and maintaining design procedures for various engineering disciplines.
• Experience writing design based on engineering deliverables.
• Experience with P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, and General Arrangements.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience within the manufacturing or energy sector.
• Knowledge of power generation.
• Understanding of thermodynamics, heat and mass balance equations, and performance correction curves as applied to simple cycle and combined cycle gas turbine gas turbines plants.

Day to Day

• Review Specifications and requirements from clients and come up with proper designs.
• Once projects are awarded they will make sure all disciplines are following the basis of design.
• Visit shop floor when at the manufacturing site.
• Undertake engineering and design work independently.
• Analyze and calculate the optimum weather design point based on project specific location.
• Design and specify the process around the optimum design point.
• Develop and improve thermal performance analysis tools to understand system performance.
• Analyze, calculate and present the financial advantages and disadvantages to leadership.
• Present and review various technical solutions with clients.
• Contribute to the business development process and work with engineering and operations to prepare studies on internal products and services.
• Participate in all facets of projects and pursuits including bid support, presentation support, augmentation philosophy development and competitor evaluations.
• Provide technical support to sales and marketing for bids and proposals, such as performance analysis, schematics, equipment selection and specification review.
• Create ROR/ROI models to support internal bid strategies, present to external clients and to prepare external publication materials for marketing purposes.
