Job description

Skeleton's Commercial department is looking for a driven and experienced
Application Engineer - Data Centers (m/f/x)

to support our customers and partners across the United States. This role serves as the key technical liaison between our sales, product, and engineering teams and major data center customers. A deep understanding of power infrastructure, energy storage technologies, and thermal management will help position Skeleton’s Supercapacitor and SuperBattery solutions as performance-driven alternatives to conventional systems.

Your responsibility areas:

  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to data center customers and partners.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and optimize system architectures for integrating Skeleton’s ultracapacitors into data center UPS, backup power, and energy efficiency applications.
  • Conduct on-site visits, technical trainings, and product demonstrations.
  • Support system design, including electrical schematics, thermal considerations, and lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Work closely with R&D and Product Development to communicate field feedback and improve product-market fit.
  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, integration guides, and white papers tailored for the U.S. data center market.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant U.S. industry standards and certifications (UL, IEEE, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience as an application or field engineer in the data center or power infrastructure industry.
  • Strong knowledge of power backup systems, UPS, batteries, and ultracapacitors.
  • Familiarity with thermal management, grid-tied systems, and data center operational requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 25–40%) for customer meetings and site support.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience working with Tier 1 or hyperscale data center operators.
  • Knowledge of energy storage regulations and incentive programs in the U.S.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS) or electrical CAD tools.
  • Experience with industrial or grid-connected backup power systems.
