Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Presales Application Engineer – Busway to support our power distribution portfolio. This role focuses on low-voltage busway and busbar distribution systems, including feeder and plug‑in busway, tap‑off boxes, and related power distribution solutions for data center, commercial, and industrial applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in the application, technical evaluation, system layout, design support, and optimization of busway solutions, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, project requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and applicable industry standards.

The primary responsibility of this role is to translate customer electrical and physical requirements into technical compliant, manufacturable, and competitive busway solutions. The individual will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and customers throughout the pre‑sales process.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical expertise in the selection, sizing, configuration, and application of busway systems, including feeder busway, plug‑in busway, tap‑off boxes, fittings, and accessories.
  • Review customer specifications, one‑line diagrams, equipment layouts, and project requirements to develop appropriate busway solutions.
  • Develop busway layouts and configurations considering ampacity, voltage, short‑circuit ratings, voltage drop, routing, tap‑off locations, installation requirements, and system scalability.
  • Ensure solutions comply with applicable NEC, UL 857, NEMA, IEEE, and other relevant standards and codes.
  • Translate customer concepts and project requirements into practical and manufacturable designs aligned with available product platforms.
  • Partner with Sales to develop technical proposals, clarify scope, identify deviations and exclusions, and support customer technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and Manufacturing to validate product capability, manufacturability, lead times, and technical risks.
  • Support technical and commercial evaluation of project requirements, including product configuration, materials, accessories, and installation considerations.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including busway layouts, one‑line diagrams, equipment schedules, specifications, and submittal information.
  • Provide technical support during customer meetings, design reviews, presentations, and site visits as required.
  • Identify value‑engineering opportunities to improve cost, installation efficiency, lead time, and overall system performance.
  • Provide feedback to support continuous improvement of busway products, configuration tools, estimating tools, and application standards.
