Job summary

Actalent in Roseville, MI, is seeking an Application Engineer to serve as the technical expert for fastener applications and manufacturing processes. You will partner with Purchasing, Quality, Sales, and customers to deliver engineered fastening solutions while ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

The role involves reviewing prints, conducting product testing, supporting PPAP, and leading continuous improvement activities across design and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering required or equivalent.
• 3+ years in application/sales engineering with customer interfacing.
• 1-2 years in fastener manufacturing processes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain technical customer relationships.

Job Title: Application Engineer

The Fastener Sales Engineer serves as the technical expert supporting customers and internal teams with fastener applications, manufacturing processes, design validation, and product development. This individual partners closely with Purchasing, Quality, Sales, and customers to deliver engineered fastening solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain technical customer relationships.
• Serve as a technical advisor to Purchasing, Quality, and Sales teams.
• Troubleshoot customer application and engineering issues.
• Support fastener design, testing, and manufacturing activities.
• Review customer prints, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct product testing including torque testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and layout verification.
• Support PPAP reviews and quality documentation.
• Lead VAVE and Lessons Learned activities.
• Assist with inventory and part setup within P21 ERP.
• Provide onsite customer support and field testing as needed.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in application/sales engineering and customer interfacing.
• 1-2 years of experience in fastener manufacturing processes.
• 1-2 years of experience in industrial and mechanical fastener applications and standards (ANSI, ASTM, DIN, ISO).
• Experience with Inventor, P21 ERP, VAVE, DFMEA, DVP&R, control plans, ANSI standards, ASTM standards, DIN standards, ISO standards, product testing, validation, PPAP, AutoCAD Inventor.
• Material and coating knowledge.
• Experience in torque testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, product development, and coating processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• MS in Engineering or Business (nice to have).
• Experience with GD&T.
• Analytical and quality control capabilities, such as SPC, First Piece Inspection, Process Flow.
• Experience with P21 ERP system for parts creation and inventory management.
• Experience with product testing, including torque testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and part layout verification.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment with occasional visits to the shop, warehouse, test house, and customers as needed. Exposure to various manufacturing, shipping, testing, and storage elements, equipment, chemicals, and supplies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Roseville, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
