Job summary

Trane Technologies in Rocky Hill, CT is seeking an Equipment Application Engineer to lead the equipment portion of various projects, validating selection, pricing and submittals, and driving strategy to meet budget objectives.

The role involves optimizing AHU equipment configurations, supporting sales, and ensuring accurate pricing while monitoring project financials. Requires HVAC PM/estimating experience and flexibility for hours. On-site with some location flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Two+ years in HVAC project management or estimating roles (or five+ years in HVAC with PM/estimating experience).
  • Experience completing commercial AHU selections and submittals.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and temperature controls preferred.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.
  • Valid driver’s license for 12+ months with clean record, per policy.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize/validate commercial HVAC equipment sizing, configuration, voltage and options by reviewing plans and proposals.
  • Evaluate potential cost savings or issues across projects.
  • Validate project scope via transition documents, plans and specs; identify costs and quantities.
  • Support sales with preliminary or final submittals and participate in transition and release meetings.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends in the air handling market.
  • Prepare equipment for order entry, verify pricing, and manage project financials.

What’s in it for you:

Trane in Rocky Hill is hiring for an Equipment Application Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the equipment portion of various projects including validating the equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittal processes of the equipment portion of projects as required, and will be accountable for the strategy and performance achievement of the specific budget objectives.

What you will do:
  • Responsible for the optimization/validation of commercial air handling HVAC equipment: to include selection of size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. of the equipment by reviewing the plans, specifications, original estimate and proposal.

  • Responsible for evaluating possible cost savings and/or cost problems that will occur on various projects.

  • Validates project scope by reviewing transition documents, plans and specs; listing possible cost savings and problems, and validating quantities and configurations.

  • Supports sales and develops preliminary submittals and/or final submittals as required, as well as hold job transition meetings and submittal release meetings.

  • Maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends within the air handling market.

  • Responsible for preparing the correct equipment for order entry, verifying equipment pricing and managing project financials.

What you will bring:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or other related areas with minimum two (2) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; or minimum of five (5) years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of / experience with completion of commercial AHU selections and submittals.

  • Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.

  • Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.

  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: : DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

$70,400.00 - $128,379.99
