Job summary

Emerson is seeking an Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI. In this role, you will analyze customer applications, lead modifications in design, and visit customer sites to provide technical support. Job description

If you are an Engineer looking to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Farmington Hills, MI, you will be responsible for providing feasibility evaluations and material weldability tests, as well as lab reports – initially for ultrasonic welding (plastic and metal) – to support the development and implementation of customer applications. Also, provide technical support to Sales teams in participating in seminars, trade shows, etc.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Analyze and evaluate customer applications for assembly
  • Lead recommending equipment, tooling, and part design modifications
  • Perform material weldability evaluations
  • Provide application troubleshooting support both in-house and in the field
  • Conduct customer visits independently to provide technical information or solve customer problems
  • Provide written technical communications (e.g., application feasibility evaluation, application briefs, technical bulletins) for customers, industry groups and suppliers
  • Provide training for customers and new employees through in-house seminars, field seminars, and lab training programs
  • Provide technical support to Market Segment Managers for seminars, trade shows, etc.
  • Additional projects as assigned by manager

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • 1+ years of relevant “hands‑on” experience in an application‑driven team
  • Experience with 3D CAD
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% occasionally to customer sites (within the US)
  • Physically capable of transporting materials and tools weighing up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience using SolidWorks
