The Global Measurement Technology Company in Charlotte, NC is hiring an Application Engineer – Industrial/Electrical. This highly technical, customer-facing role blends electrical engineering, industrial automation, testing, and hands-on field applications across the US and Canada.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years on-the-ground experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM, and familiarity with VFDs, PLCs, and industrial networks.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of hands-on field or applications experience in electrical/controls or testing.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Controls, Mechatronics, or related STEM.
  • Strong knowledge of 3-phase electrical circuits.
  • Experience with VFDs and PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, EtherCAT.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical expert supporting industrial automation and electrical testing.
  • Configure multi-channel DAQ systems for VFD efficiency and motor testing.
  • Conduct hands-on customer demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing.
  • Connect measurement equipment to VFDs, PLCs, encoders, sensors in real environments.
  • Collaborate with Sales as technical resource during demos and training.
  • Support customers through equipment selection, configuration, testing, and implementation.
  • Provide feedback to Product Development and R&D teams.

We are partnering with a Global Measurement Technology Company who is hiring for an Application Engineer – Industrial/Electrical in the Charlotte, NC area.

Position Highlights
  • Title: Application Engineer – Industrial/Electrical
  • Travel: Approximately 50–75% to customer facilities, trade shows, and R&D locations throughout the U.S. and Canada
  • Highly technical, customer-facing position combining electrical engineering, industrial automation, testing, and hands-on field applications
  • 5–7 years of hands-on field, applications, electrical, controls, automation, or test engineering experience.
  • 2- or 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation/Controls, Mechatronics, or related STEM discipline.
  • Strong understanding of 3-phase electrical circuits and industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience with signal conditioning, high-voltage transducers, current clamps, Rogowski coils, encoders, and sensor signals.
  • Hands-on experience with VFDs and PLCs, including Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication architectures such as CAN, Modbus, OPC UA, and EtherCAT.
  • Experience troubleshooting and setting up instrumentation within manufacturing, industrial, or test-cell environments.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and explaining complex technical concepts.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to customer locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical expert supporting industrial automation, electrical testing, and measurement applications.
  • Work directly with automation engineers, system integrators, and OEM engineering teams to understand complex testing requirements.
  • Configure multi-channel Data Acquisition systems for VFD efficiency, motor testing, transient logging, and dynamic signal analysis.
  • Conduct hands-on customer demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing.
  • Connect measurement equipment directly to VFDs, PLCs, encoders, sensors, and electrical systems in real-world industrial environments.
  • Integrate high-speed data acquisition with plant-floor automation and control systems.
  • Help customers diagnose electrical, controls, and signal-related challenges.
  • Partner with regional Sales teams as the primary technical resource during demonstrations, technical evaluations, and customer training.
  • Support customers through equipment selection, configuration, testing, and implementation.
  • Communicate customer and application feedback to Product Development and R&D teams to help influence future hardware and software capabilities.
