Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol, seeks an Application Development Engineer to interface with customers, internal product teams, and sales, driving interconnect and hardware solutions for diverse markets.

You will lead design reviews, develop concepts, and accelerate product development using first principles, with strong PCB design and prototyping skills, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficiency with PCB/electrical design tools (Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, PADS, KiCad or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of power distribution, voltage/current, circuit protection, grounding, and basic analog/digital electronics.
• Ability to prototype, test, and troubleshoot hardware.
• Ability to create technical presentations and proposals.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• This role is critical to supporting Amphenol's growth in automotive, robotics, energy storage, and AI infrastructure with reliable hardware and interconnect designs.
• Work with customers to develop solutions that address their needs and satisfy technical requirements.
• Deep expertise in PCB design and development including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout and design.
• Lead internal design reviews and product development meetings with customers.
• Create technical presentations to propose concepts and present solutions to customers.
• Proficient in Windchill, Creo, and product configurators.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, drawings, specifications, test plans, and reports.
• Hands-on prototyping, testing, debugging, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Engage cross-functional teams to support design proposals and lab testing.
• Travel as required.

FCI Basics, an Amphenol business approaching $500 million in annual revenue, is seeking a driven, hunter-style Application Development Engineer to develop new opportunities and grow strategic customer relationships across North America.

As a Application DevelopmentEngineer you will interface with our customers, internal product development, product marketing, and sales teams, performing as an extension of Basics BU engineering team.

Responsibilities

• This role is critical to supporting Amphenol's ambitious growth in diverse markets like Automotive, Robotics, Energy Storage & AI infrastructure, ensuring reliable, efficient and scalable hardware and interconnect designs.
• You'll work with customers to develop solutions that address their needs and satisfy the technical requirements.
• The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PCB design and development, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and design.
• Proficiency with at least one PCB/electrical design tool such as Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, PADS, KiCad, or equivalent is required.
• Strong understanding of electrical and engineering fundamentals, including power distribution, voltage/current, circuit protection, grounding, and basic analog/digital electronics is expected.
• Accurately access customer's needs, matching them with current products or propose modifications to current products and/or propose new product concepts for further development
• This engineer will be responsible for challenging existing designs and using first principles' approach to innovating and accelerating new products in the roadmap.
• Create technical presentations to propose concepts, present solutions to the customers
• Lead internal design reviews and the product development meeting with the customers
• Proficient in internal systems: Windchill, product configurators, Creo etc.
• Ability to create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, drawings, specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
• Ability to perform hands-on prototyping, testing, debugging, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Engage product engineer, CAE engineer, process engineer and all relevant project teams members when needed to support; facilitate lab testing to support design proposals
• Help devise strategies to differentiate our products and solutions from our competitors, propose technical product improvements
• Develop a trusted adviser relationship with engineering teams of key customers
• Lead and/or participate in new product Voice of Customer activity
• Fill patents
• Prototypes design
• Guarantee deliverables on time
• Some travel required.
