Job summary

Echo Electric, a brand owned by Sonepar, seeks a skilled Applications Controls Specialist to join the Normal, IL team. The engineer will create schematics and layouts, compile BOMs, and program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, sensors, and VFDs for diverse control projects.

Responsibilities include startups, commissioning, documentation, and customer coordination on site. Qualified candidates hold an engineering degree, can travel, and are adept at multitasking, problem solving, and cross-functional

Qualifications

  • College education in Engineering, Technical studies, or related fields.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to multitask, manage workloads, be detailed–oriented and problem solve.
  • Capable of gaining the trust and support of others and working in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to communicate and share solutions with different levels within an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Create schematics, layouts, system designs and/or drawings for assigned projects.
  • Produces a bill of materials for assigned projects.
  • As required, programs products and systems including but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, Sensors, Safety, SCADA, Wireless, Industrial Networking, and VFDs.
  • As requested, assists with the preparation of estimates and quotations.
  • Design prototypes, proof of concepts, and provide technical assistance on projects.
  • Ability to conduct startups, commissioning, and debugging of customer’s systems including on the job site.
  • As requested, assists with project schedules and coordination.
  • Assist with developing and assembling documentation for internal and external needs.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge and understanding of our products, solutions, and services.
  • Ability to work with an urgency to respond and prepare accurate, detailed information.
  • Ability to gain customer interest in additional solutions and services.
  • Assist in customer communications and project follow-up to ensure customers are being serviced.
  • Provides engineering guidance to Assemblers to ensure successful production of projects.

We have a great opportunity for a Controls Engineer to join our growing team! You would be responsible for maintaining, communicating, and applying a high level of technical knowledge. This position provides opportunities to design, specify, program, test, and quality check assigned projects. In addition, the Controls Engineer will work closely with associates, customers, and manufacturing partners. Our services include Control Engineering, Control Panel Building, Sub-Assemblies, Enclosure Modifications, Wire Harnessing, and Switchboard Assembly. Position must report from our Normal, IL branch location.

Compensation:$70,000-$75,000 annually

Shift: 8 AM- 5 PM, M-F.

We’re looking for an engineer who:
