Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking a Senior Architect to lead modernization of mainframe applications and shape strategic roadmaps. You will guide cross-functional teams, design frameworks, and ensure architectures meet business goals.

You bring deep experience with mainframe systems, z/OS, and cloud integrations, documenting architecture, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with stakeholders to uphold enterprise standards.

Your role

Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. In this strategic role, you’ll use your knowledge of legacy systems and cloud architecture to identify opportunities to modernize mainframe applications.

What you will do

• Plan Strategy - Shape the future: Define, assess, and prioritize modernization roadmaps taking into account cost and risk.
• Design Frameworks - Invent innovative solutions: You’ll be responsible for designing cutting-edge software frameworks, systems, and products that will set the standard for the industry. You’ll use your extensive technical knowledge to conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes, while also identifying and resolving any framework design weaknesses.
• Guide Teams - Share your knowledge: Use your technical expertise to provide technical leadership to the application development team, perform design and code reviews, and ensure that uniform enterprise-wide application design standards are maintained.
• Guide Teams - Achieve business goals: Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that the architecture is aligned with business requirements, making sure that the project meets its goals.
• Document Architecture - Keep vital records: Create and maintain documentation surrounding the software architecture, application design processes, component integration, testing guidelines, and other key elements.

Preferred skills and experience

• The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)
• Prior hands-on experience working in a mainframe environment
• Experience in the following types of mainframe projects - Modernize On, Integrate With and Move Off
• Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Software Products as well as 3rd party mainframe software

Base compensation range for the position in the U.S.

-143,640 to 273,000 (base compensation range for the position in the U.S. is -143,640 to 273,000 based on a full-time schedule) reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Kyndryl, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. Your actual compensation may vary depending on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction, including, but not limited to, geography, relevant job-related skills, education and experience, certification and licenses, internal pay equity, and market and business consideration. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.

• California (All Other): 158,040 to 300,360
• Colorado: 143,640 to 273,000
• Massachusetts/ Virginia: 143,640 to 300,360

• Washington DC: 158,040 to 300,360

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans.
