Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Application Analyst I to support the design, build, configuration, testing, and ongoing support of healthcare applications across the health system.

Under guidance from senior analysts, you will assist with application build, workflow configuration, testing, issue resolution, documentation, and go-live activities while gaining hands‑on experience in healthcare technology and system implementations.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to perform assigned application work under guidance of senior analysts and leadership.
  • Basic understanding of application support, system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, or related technology processes.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new software, applications, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Applicable application certification as required for the assigned application.
  • Ability to maintain required certification through New Version Training (NVT), as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and build for assigned workflows, configurations, screens, templates, and data fields.
  • Participate in workflow review sessions with Operations and application team members.
  • Follow established application build standards and best practices.
  • Participate in unit, application, integrated, upgrade, and enhancement testing.
  • Execute test scripts and document results, issues and troubleshooting outcomes.
  • Provide basic application troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to senior analysts or leadership.
  • Support application implementations, go-lives, post-go-live activities, and on‑call coverage.
  • Manage assigned incidents, requests, and enhancement tickets with timely customer updates.
  • Document system modifications, workflow changes, decisions, risks, issues, and resolutions.
  • Follow change control, issue tracking, and escalation processes.
  • Assist with future‑state workflows, training curriculum reviews, change readiness documentation, and process improvement activities.

Job Summary:

The Application Analyst I supports the design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of assigned healthcare applications across RWJBarnabas Health.

Working under the guidance of senior analysts and leadership, the Application Analyst I assists with application build, workflow configuration, testing, issue resolution, documentation, go-live activities, and ongoing operational support. This position is an opportunity to develop application expertise while gaining hands‑on experience with healthcare technology, workflows, and system implementations.

As an Application Analyst I, a typical day may include:
  • Supporting application design and build for assigned workflows, configurations, screens, templates, and data fields

  • Participating in workflow review sessions with Operations and application team members to understand business needs

  • Following established application build standards and best practices

  • Participating in unit, application, integrated, upgrade, and enhancement testing

  • Executing test scripts and documenting results, issues, and troubleshooting outcomes

  • Providing basic application troubleshooting and escalating complex issues to senior analysts or leadership

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience

  • 0 to 2 years of application, system build, application support, healthcare IT, or related experience

  • Exposure to the assigned customer base, operational workflows, or application support processes

  • Experience with healthcare clinical or financial systems

  • Knowledge of current clinical or financial workflows and processes

  • Experience with application testing, ticket management, change control, or go‑live support

  • Clinical licensure when applicable to the assigned application
