Nemean Solutions, LLC in Columbus, OH is seeking an Appliance Mechanic to install, service, test, troubleshoot, and repair household and commercial appliances at Defense Supply Center Columbus. You will perform preventive maintenance per work orders, read wiring diagrams, and ensure compliance with codes and contract requirements.

Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, testing with meters, and coordinating with government customers to minimize cafeteria disruption.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, servicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing household or commercial appliances.
• Ability to read and follow manufacturer instructions and work orders.
• EPA Section 608 certification required when refrigerants are present.
• Qualified-person status per NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E when electrical work is performed.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and related appliances.
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs per PM schedule and approved orders.
• Connect appliances to power and test with meters and diagnostic tools.
• Observe readings and identify overheating, leaks, or wear.
• Disassemble and inspect mechanical and electrical components for issues.
• Trace circuits using wiring diagrams and locate faults with meters.
• Calibrate timers/thermostats and verify operation after service.
• Clean parts and replace worn components as needed.
• Maintain proper documentation of services and maintenance.
• Coordinate with Contracting Officer's Representative to minimize disruption.
• Follow lockout/tagout, safety, PPE, and Government-property rules.

Job Overview:

The Appliance Mechanic supports facility operations and maintenance at Defense Supply Center Columbus by installing, servicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing household and commercial appliances. The position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen equipment in accordance with work orders, wiring diagrams, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and contract requirements.

Support Hours: Applicant shall be available during core work hours as established the Government customer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances.


• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective repairs in accordance with the kitchen equipment preventive maintenance list, manufacturer instructions, and approved work orders.


• Connect appliances to power sources and test instruments, including wattmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, and other appropriate diagnostic equipment.


• Observe meter readings and appliance operating cycles to identify excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, loose parts, and other deficiencies.


• Disassemble appliances as required and inspect mechanical and electrical components for wear, damage, or failure.


• Trace electrical circuits using wiring diagrams and locate shorts, grounds, and related faults with an ohmmeter or other test equipment.


• Calibrate timers and thermostats, adjust contact points, and verify proper equipment operation after maintenance or repair.


• Clean appliance parts using appropriate brushes, buffers, and solvents to remove carbon, grease, dust, and other residue.


• Replace worn or defective switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, wiring, and other components.


• Repair and adjust appliance motors, reassemble equipment, align and adjust pulleys, lubricate moving parts, and complete operational checks.


• Coordinate kitchen-equipment work with the Contracting Officer's Representative to minimize interference with cafeteria operations.


• Follow lockout/tagout, electrical-safety, hazard-control, PPE, work-area protection, documentation, cleanup, and Government-property requirements.

Competencies:

• Commercial and household appliance troubleshooting and repair.


• Electrical circuit tracing and wiring-diagram interpretation.


• Mechanical component, motor, pump, and drive-system repair.


• Use of electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, and hand tools.


• Preventive maintenance and root-cause diagnosis.


• Accurate work-order and maintenance documentation.


• Safety compliance, customer service, teamwork, and reliability.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements/Education:

• Training, knowledge, experience, and skills pertinent to the appliances and equipment assigned, supported by current manufacturer training or certification from an organization acceptable to the Government.


• Demonstrated ability to install, service, test, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and perform preventive maintenance on household or commercial appliances.


• All licenses and certifications required by applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictions; EPA Section 608 certification is required when assigned work could release regulated refrigerants.


• Qualified-person status as required by NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E when performing work on electrical systems.


• Ability to complete required site orientation, safety, security, installation-access, and annual refresher training.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience maintaining commercial kitchen appliances in a large commercial, industrial, military, or federal facility.


• Manufacturer training or certifications covering commercial cooking, dishwashing, refrigeration, or related food-service equipment.

Security Requirement

• Must satisfy installation access and background-screening requirements and obtain and maintain DBIDS credentials and a Common Access Card (CAC), as applicable.
