Job summary

IBM Consulting in Houston seeks a Senior Appian Developer to design and implement end-to-end Appian solutions, automate business processes, and lead plugin development. The role requires hands-on Appian expertise, plugin development, and strong API integration capabilities.

Applicants should have experience with REST and SOAP, SQL, and Agile SDLC practices, with a path toward managing production environments and improving system performance. Security clearance ability is required.

Qualifications

• Appian Certified Senior Developer with 3+ years of hands-on Appian development in senior/lead roles.
• 1+ years of experience developing Appian plugins and managing an on-prem Appian production environment.
• 2+ years of experience configuring Appian interfaces, reports, logic, and system integrations.
• 2+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL scripting for large-scale systems.
• 2+ years of experience designing REST and SOAP APIs within Agile SDLC environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Appian solutions end-to-end.
• Implement automation using Appian and other intelligent technologies.
• Perform code reviews for Appian developers.
• Conduct root cause analysis for Appian outages and restore services.
• Develop Appian plugins and update them for security vulnerabilities.
• Review environment performance and advise on sizing and resource needs.

Your role and responsibilities

This role will design and develop Appian solutions. This will include:

• Implementing end to end process automation using Appian and other intelligent automation technologies

• Performing code reviews for Appian developers

• Conducting root cause analysis for Appian outages

• Restoring Appian services in the event of an outage

• Developing Appian based solutions using all object types available in Appian.

• Integrating with external applications using REST and SOAP based APIs.

• Developing Appian plugins (Java)

• Updating Appian plugins for security vulnerabilities

• Reviewing Application performance and suggest improvements

• Reviewing Environment performance, provide recommendations on sizing, and identify resource needs prior to bottlenecks

Required technical and professional expertise

• Appian Certified Senior Developer with 3+ years of hands-on Appian development experience in senior/lead roles supporting production applications.

• 1+ years of experience developing Appian plugins and 1 year managing an on‑premise Appian production environment.

• 2+ years of experience configuring and debugging Appian interfaces, reports, underlying logic, and system integrations.

• 2+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL scripting supporting large-scale, business‑critical systems.

• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing SOAP and REST APIs, with strong understanding of broader technology ecosystems and Agile SDLC practices (3+ years).

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Federal & Technical Architecture Experience: 2+ years supporting software development projects in a Federal environment, with experience defining and documenting architectures across multiple architectural views.

• Technical Development & Infrastructure: 1 year of Java experience, familiarity with Appian for Kubernetes, NoSQL databases, cloud resource management, and application performance optimization.

• Professional & Interpersonal Skills: Strong analytical and technical abilities paired with excellent written/verbal communication and collaborative teamwork/facilitation skills.
