Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an Appian Developer to lead end-to-end automation, plugins, and system integrations in a hybrid US role. You will review code, analyze outages, and design Appian-based solutions while ensuring performance and security across production environments.

Required: 3+ years Appian dev, 1+ year plugins, 2+ years API integrations, and a Public Trust clearance. Strong collaboration and Agile practices are essential.

Qualifications

  • Appian Certified Senior Developer with 3+ years of hands-on Appian development experience.
  • 1+ years developing Appian plugins and 1 year managing an on-prem Appian production env.
  • 2+ years configuring and debugging Appian interfaces, reports, and integrations.
  • 2+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL scripting.
  • 2+ years designing and implementing SOAP/REST APIs; Agile SDLC experience (3+ years).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Federal/Technical Architecture experience in a Federal environment (2+ years).
  • Java experience and familiarity with Appian on Kubernetes, NoSQL, cloud resource mgmt.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Implementing end to end process automation using Appian and other intelligent automation technologies
  • Performing code reviews for Appian developers
  • Conducting root cause analysis for Appian outages
  • Restoring Appian services in the event of an outage
  • Developing Appian based solutions using all object types available in Appian.
  • Integrating with external applications using REST and SOAP based APIs.
  • Developing Appian plugins (Java)
  • Updating Appian plugins for security vulnerabilities
  • Reviewing Application performance and suggest improvements
  • Reviewing Environment performance, provide recommendations on sizing, and identify resource needs prior to bottlenecks

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Appian Certified Senior Developer with 3+ years of hands‑on Appian development experience in senior/lead roles supporting production applications.
  • 1+ years of experience developing Appian plugins and 1 year managing an on‑premise Appian production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience configuring and debugging Appian interfaces, reports, underlying logic, and system integrations.
  • 2+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL scripting supporting large‑scale, business‑critical systems.
  • 2+ years of experience designing and implementing SOAP and REST APIs, with strong understanding of broader technology ecosystems and Agile SDLC practices (3+ years).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Federal & Technical Architecture Experience: 2+ years supporting software development projects in a Federal environment, with experience defining and documenting architectures across multiple architectural views.
  • Technical Development & Infrastructure: 1 year of Java experience, familiarity with Appian for Kubernetes, NoSQL databases, cloud resource management, and application performance optimization.
  • Professional & Interpersonal Skills: Strong analytical and technical abilities paired with excellent written/verbal communication and collaborative teamwork/facilitation skills.
