The Appellate Resource Attorney at the Washington State Office of Public Defense (OPD) provides management-level support to contract appellate and post-conviction attorneys. You will coach new practitioners, develop trainings, monitor performance, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve contractor outcomes.

You will report to the Appellate and Post-Conviction Unit Supervisor and work to expand OPD’s appellate program while upholding client-centered representation.

Qualifications

• At least five years in appellate practice.
• Commitment to social justice and serving underrepresented communities.
• Willingness to travel statewide as required.

Responsabilités

• Assist with recruitment and selection of appellate attorneys and firms.
• Coach contract appellate and post-conviction attorneys, especially those new to appellate practice.
• Develop and deliver practical training for contract attorneys; update curriculum as needed.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to improve contractor performance; monitor progress.
