Job summary

The State Courts System in Daytona Beach, FL seeks a Clerk of the Court for the Fifth District Court of Appeal with extensive appellate-law experience and strong leadership skills. You will oversee filing, docketing, and staff management, while aligning practices with Florida statutes and court rules.

You will implement efficient procedures, manage information technology initiatives, and provide reports to the Chief Judge.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or other advanced degree in a field of management such as judicial administration, business administration or public administration with at least ten years of legal experience.
• Extensive experience with C-Track, Court Map and/or other court technology and case management software.
• Extensive experience in appellate law.
• Experience in supervising personnel.
• Membership in Florida Bar is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct the operations of the Office of Clerk of the Fifth District Court of Appeal.
• Recruit, supervise, train, manage and evaluate deputy clerks and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws and appellate rules for areas of responsibility.
• Promulgate and implement policies and procedures for efficient coordination of filings and court orders.
• Monitor and prepare reports on receipts, processing, and filing of pleadings and opinions.
• Interact with Judges, court personnel, trial clerks, Florida Bar members, and the public.
