Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited law school.
  • Four years of full-time appellate law experience.
  • Judicial clerkship in a federal or state appellate court.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas; member in good standing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the state’s interests before state and federal appellate courts; research and draft briefs; prepare for and deliver oral arguments; provide legal advice to client agencies.
  • Analyze complex factual and legal issues related to appellate matters and post-trial motions.
  • Assist with training less experienced staff and supervise attorneys and staff as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with agency policies and procedures.
