Job summary

Aeropostale is seeking a Technical Designer to provide technical expertise in evaluating apparel merchandise for fit, quality and design interpretation for the manufacturer to follow.

You will collaborate with Design and Product Development, complete product packages in FlexPLM, establish fit standards, lead fit sessions, and resolve issues with IBOs and factories, ensuring on-time delivery and cross-functional communication to improve overall product quality.

Qualifications

• College degree in fine arts or design, or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of technical design experience.
• Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking and manufacturing process.
• Proficiency in Flex PLM, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Web PDM, Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Design and Product Development teams to determine fit and aesthetics.
• Complete product packages in FlexPLM, including measurements, construction details and technical sketches.
• Establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality.
• Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Product Development, discuss fit history and recommend construction options.
• Resolve fit and construction issues with International Buying Offices and factories within deadlines.
• Communicate daily with IBO, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
• Enhance fit and quality through review of customer comments and competitive analysis.
