Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in the United States seeks a Prescribed Fire Manager to lead the Tennessee Business Unit's fire program, build partnerships, and advance landscape-scale restoration on the Cumberland Plateau. You will oversee operations, manage plans, coordinate with partner agencies, and mentor staff to maintain NWCG RXB2 qualifications and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Based at Bridgestone Nature Reserve on Chestnut Mountain, this role involves travel to support restoration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire management or natural resource management or equivalent.
• NWCG RXB2 prescribed fire qualification.
• Experience developing and applying strategic thinking to fire management and restoration priorities.
• Experience writing prescribed burn unit plans and wildfire response plans.
• Experience supervising seasonal and permanent staff and coordinating with partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead prescribed fire projects and manage burn boss operations.
• Oversee preserve infrastructure, access, and firebreaks.
• Develop and maintain MOUs and agreements with agencies/partners.
• Coordinate training, qualifications, and records (IQCS).
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and safety standards; mentor staff.
