Responsibilities

  • Assist in fast-paced Trauma Services operations, including consults/admissions and rounding.
  • Initiate and monitor quality improvement initiatives (e.g., CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP prevention, CDI).
  • Liaison between Surgical ICU, consultants, and Acute Care teams during patient transfers.
  • Perform rapid assessments and order/interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-ray, CT).
  • Assist in trauma procedures and resuscitations; manage pre/post-operative care.
  • Coordinate patient care transitions to rehabilitation or other facilities.
  • Educate patients and families on injury, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
  • Participate in trauma rounds, multidisciplinary conferences, and quality activities.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and progress; adhere to trauma protocols.

  • Schedule is four 10 hour shifts per week, primarily M-F with 1 weekend a month , one holiday a year.

  • Preferred Adult Gerontology or Acute Care Certified required (willing to complete within 3 years) to be in alignment with the national LACE guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in fast-paced daily operations of Trauma Services patients, including consults/admissions and rounding
  • Initiate, educate, monitor quality improvement initiatives such as CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP prevention, CDI, and early mobilization
  • Liaison between Surgical ICU, consultants, and Acute Care Surgical teams as patients transfer out of Surgical ICU
  • Must be adaptable and able to work at a fast pace
  • Required FTE-1.0
  • Perform rapid and comprehensive assessments of trauma patients in the emergency department and ICU.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, X-rays, CT scans, and other imaging studies.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and trauma resuscitations as appropriate.
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative care, including wound management, pain control, and monitoring for complications.
  • Coordinate patient care transitions, including transfer to rehabilitation or other care facilities.
  • Provide patient and family education on injury, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
  • Participate in trauma rounds, multidisciplinary case conferences, and quality improvement activities.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to trauma protocols and guidelines to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in trauma research and continuing education to maintain clinical competency.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Experience in trauma, critical care, or emergency medicine preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
  • National board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) or ACNPC-AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP-BC).
  • Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader: Family (FNP-BC) or (FNP–C), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC) or (A-GNP).
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
