Job summary

Harbor Health in El Paso is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our multi-specialty clinic at the Rushfair practice. You will lead clinical care in our primary care setting, delivering evidence-based, patient‑centered services with safe decision-making and collaboration with the care team.

You will perform exams, order tests, manage chronic conditions, and participate in education, quality review, and organizational initiatives, aligning with our payvider model.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited NP/PA program and NCCPA/ANCC/AANP certified
  • Current Texas NP/PA license and family medicine credentialing
  • DEA and CPR certifications are current
  • Valid Texas driver's license and credentialing readiness
  • Ability to work as solo provider within a clinic team

Responsibilities

  • Interview members to obtain medical history and perform exams
  • Order labs and tests, prescribe medications, and recommend treatments
  • Provide continuity for long-term conditions and coordinate referrals
  • Conduct health maintenance visits and immunization reviews
  • Document and code all patient contacts in the EMR
  • Collaborate with care team and participate in clinical committees and education

POSITION OVERVIEW

Harbor Health is seeking a team-oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our multi-specialty clinic group in el Paso at our Rushfair practice. As a clinical leader within our primary care setting, you will provide effective, efficient, and appropriate services to our members while demonstrating safe clinical decision-making and expert care. You will work collaboratively with our clinical practice team to deliver exceptional care that aligns with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interview members to obtain medical history, perform physical examinations, order laboratory and other diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and recommend treatments
  • Provide continuity in managed care for members with pre-existing long-term conditions
  • Make referrals for secondary and tertiary care as needed in collaboration with the care team
  • Perform medical procedures according to issued privileges
  • Provide health maintenance visits, evaluate immunization needs, offer anticipatory guidance and referrals
  • Perform contract and special physical examinations for employment and other purposes
  • Conduct STD screening, family planning, and health education
  • Document and code all member contacts accurately and legibly in the electronic medical record
  • Function as an active member of the medical team
  • Participate in and manage care team meetings
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives, including participation on clinical committees, providing education, quality review, and other mission-aligned activities
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Required
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Nurse Practitioner Program and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to practice in the State of Texas
  • Licensed and certified to practice in Family Medicine
  • Current DEA and CPR certification
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Ability to meet and maintain current organizational credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Comfortable working as a solo provider in a clinic team setting
  • Computer literacy with ability to navigate electronic health record systems
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional communication
  • Ability to interact effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork capabilities while maintaining ability to function independently
  • Sound judgment, flexibility to shift priorities, and commitment to confidentiality
Preferred
  • 2+ years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a primary care setting
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work irregular hours in a moderate-stress environment
  • Capacity to handle exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases
  • Ability to push/pull heavy objects and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Full range of body motion for patient care activities
