• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Texas.
• Board certification required (AANP/ANCC/NCCPA or equivalent).
• DEA license and prescriptive authority in Texas.
• 1–2 years of urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or ambulatory care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute, urgent, and episodic conditions in Express Care.
• Obtain histories and perform physical examinations.
• Order and interpret diagnostics and imaging as appropriate.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with Harbor Health team for referrals and care coordination.
• Document encounters accurately in the EHR and ensure compliance.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Harbor Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our multi-specialty clinic group at our Congress Express Care location in Austin, TX. As a clinical leader within our primary care setting, you will provide effective, efficient, and appropriate services to our members while demonstrating safe clinical decision-making and expert care. You will work collaboratively with our clinical practice team to deliver exceptional care that aligns with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model. The APP will provide acute and urgent care services to members across a broad range of presentations, ensuring timely, compassionate, and evidence-based treatment in an Express Care setting with the potential to cover one Saturday/month.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat members presenting with acute, urgent, and episodic medical conditions in an Express Care setting
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform thorough physical examinations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging as clinically appropriate
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based clinical guidelines
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
• Educate members and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
• Collaborate with the broader Harbor Health care team to ensure appropriate referrals, care coordination, and continuity of care
• Accurately and efficiently document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Adhere to all regulatory, compliance, and credentialing requirements
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, member safety, and clinical quality

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Texas
• Board certification required (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent)
• DEA license and prescriptive authority in Texas
• Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or a related ambulatory care setting preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Experience working with diverse member populations across age groups
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build trust with members quickly
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
