Job summary

Children's of Alabama is seeking a Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA) to deliver care for pediatric patients on an on-site basis at Main Campus. The role includes clinical practice, collaboration with physicians, and participation in education and scholarship.

Scheduling is Full-time on rotating shifts, with most hours from 11a to 11p. Qualified candidates hold MSN/DNP or PA postgraduate credentials, be eligible for Alabama NP/PA licensure, and hold current BLS.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to practice as a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) in Alabama.
• Current RN Licensure in Alabama for nurse practitioners.
• Current BLS certification.
• Certification as PNP/ACNP or PA-C (NCCPA) required.

Job description

In Nursing Advanced Practice Providers at Main Campus Children's of Alabama

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Rotating Shift, Mostly 11a-11p, but some rotating shifts.

Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider is an advanced practice registered nurse or physician’s assistant with education, training, certification, and licensure to provide care for a specified patient population. This individual will deliver care for patients including prevention/management of common pediatric illnesses and conditions, technologically dependent, and highly vulnerable for complications with acute, complex and/or chronic illnesses. This care is provided to support optimal health of children within the context of their family, community, and environmental setting. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and scholarship. This individual works in collaboration with the collaborating physician, Division Medical Director, staff physicians, Lead APP, Director of Advanced Practice Providers, Department Director, staff nurses and other team members.

Other Information

Education

• MSN, DNP or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as a pediatric nurse practitioner or family nurse practitioner
• Graduate of master’s or doctoral level physician assistant program

Experience

• At least 1 year of nursing or medical experience required with experience in the subspecialty area preferred

Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries

• Must be eligible to practice as a nurse practitioner as determined by the Alabama Board of Nursing or as a physician assistant as determined by the Alabama Board of Medicine
• Current RN Licensure in the State of Alabama for nurse practitioners
• Current BLS certification
• Valid Primary Care PNP, Acute Care PNP or FNP certification from appropriate certifying board or certification as PA-C from NCCPA

The Nursing Advanced Practice Providers (APP) department comprises highly trained nurse practitioners and physician assistants who provide expert, autonomous, and collaborative care throughout nearly all divisions of the health system.
