Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the Night shift in the Critical Care department at RWJ Somerset. The APN/PA will support emergent inpatient care and collaborate with attending physicians across critical care services.

Responsibilities include coordinating care, performing assessments, and leading on-call coverage while ensuring adherence to NJ state practice guidelines and hospital policies. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Acute care certification preferred
• FCCS certification preferred
• 1 to 2 years acute care hospital experience preferred
• Current APN or PA certification
• Current NJ state license, CDS and DEA
• Current BLS and ACLS required

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in new routine
• Demonstrates effectiveness in coordinating aspects of patient care
• Performs appropriate assessments and treatment for patients
• Performs appropriate interpretation of laboratory/diagnostic testing
• Performs basic bedside procedures such as central line removal, feeding tube insertion, rhino rocket insertion etc
• Appropriately directs patient care during a rapid response as well as code stroke, code MI and code sepsis
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills, communicates effectively and demonstrates time management
• Performs duties independently and coordinates care with the bedside nurse, attending physician and other consulting providers
• The ability to compassionately interact with patients across different areas of care
• Recognizes areas for improvement in policies or patient care, initiates change and educates all involved in change
• Regularly communicates with nursing staff concerning patient care issues
• Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing
• Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary
• Ability to perform proper medical clearances for inpatient psychiatric patients

Job Summary: The House Coverage APP is an independent health care provider who coordinates emergent inpatient care through collaboration with the attending Physician. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiner's Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee.

As Lead APP on the team additional responsibilities include creating the monthly team schedule, assisting in filling schedule gaps, assisting with payroll, assisting with providing team educational opportunities and being an active member of the APP Practice Council as well as various hospital committees.
