Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Cardiology APP (APRN/Physician Assistant) for our Shelton, CT location. The role involves comprehensive cardiac care, assessment, and plan development within an interdisciplinary team.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, days, with a 40-hour week and on-site responsibilities. The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited NP or PA program, holds current NCCPA certification and CT license, and meets ACLS/BLS (DEA) requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
  • Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS, and DEA License as applicable.
  • PALS/NRP when indicated for specialty needs.
  • Additional licensure, certifications, and continuing education may be required based on position.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care: provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients/families on care, discharge plan, and resources.
  • Ensure documentation complies with hospital and regulatory requirements and protects information.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior; ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in projects to maintain and advance competency; may mentor others.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care: The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. The NP/PA collaborates with the attending supervising/collaborating physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital regulations, and may provide autonomous team based care. Obtains medical histories, performs exams, reviews/tests, and develops treatment plans. May perform procedures and prescribe treatments in line with guidelines. May function as first or second assistant on operative cases. Other duties as assigned within scope.
  • Patient Education & Psychosocial Support: Educate patients/families on care, discharge plan, and resources. Provide psychosocial support within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Information Management: Ensure documentation complies with hospital and regulatory requirements and protects information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Quality Management: Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior; ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Development: Engage in projects to maintain and advance competency; may serve as a preceptor or mentor; may collaborate on research and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.

Experience

  • Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
  • APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and go through the Medical Staff credentialing process. Evidence of current competence to practice must be provided, including reference letters.

Licensure

  • Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State PA License, ACLS/BLS, and DEA License as applicable.
  • PALS/NRP when indicated for specialty needs.
  • Additional licensure, certifications, and continuing education may be required based on position.
