Job Description

Position: API Analyst

Duration: 6-12 months

Location: Seattle, WA

We seek an experienced and motivated candidate to collaborate with multiple teams to drive consistency, best practices, and efficient API architecture. The candidate should have experience as a functional analyst within a Web API team delivering external APIs for various applications. Responsibilities include participating in JAD meetings, architecture discussions, and maintaining standards and best practices documentation.

Project Background:

This long-term position requires the candidate to be local to Seattle or willing to relocate. The company has started a SOA journey, developing APIs across front-end and back-end systems.

Skills Required:

• Understanding of data modeling, relational and non-relational sources
• Knowledge of XML, XSDs, and messaging patterns using XML
• Understanding of JSON and its advantages over XML messaging
• Knowledge of RESTful services, including:
• API modeling across enterprise systems
• HTTP methods and CRUD mapping
• HTTP error codes and standardization
• API versioning and backward compatibility
• API security mechanisms and their strengths/weaknesses
• Ability to document and present best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Background in integration analysis
• Ability to connect with people, empathize, and guide teams towards enterprise API standards
