Job summary

Intertek is seeking an API 653 Tank Inspector to join our AIM team in Houston/Clear Lake, TX on a part-time, project-based basis. You will perform QA inspections on above-ground storage tanks, coordinate with clients, and ensure API code compliance on multiple sites.

The role requires API 653 certification with 5+ years’ experience, independent work ability, and TWIC certification; valid driver’s license is also required. Intertek emphasizes safety and quality in a drug-free workplace.

Qualifications

• Familiar with in-service and out-of-service tank inspection.

Responsibilities

• Above ground storage tank inspection oriented toward existing tanks that have been in service.
• Quality assurance of field and clerical activities including inspection and repair.
• Assure customer and code driven requirements are met.
• Witness/audit of NDE activities, ensure proper tools and techniques are used.
• Ensure Quality Control packages are properly assembled and timely.
• Coordinate with client project managers on tank repair projects.
• Act as Tank Entry Supervisor on tank activities.
• Review drawings with repair contractor and ensure repairs meet API code.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and safely.
• Coordinate with contractors and manage movement on site.
• Perform walkthroughs with client field departments to verify repairs.
• Track manpower and progress on active projects daily.
• Perform monthly DOT visual inspections and manage DOT paperwork.

Intertek is searching for anexperienced API 653 Tank Inspectorto join our Asset Integrity Management (AIM)team in our Houston/Clear Lake, TXoffice for several upcoming short-term inspection projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Industry Services! This is a P/T, casual, project-based position.

The API 653 Tank Inspectoris responsible for providing Tank QA inspection services at various client facilities.

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:

• Above ground storage tank inspection oriented toward existing tanks that have been in service
• Quality assurance of field and clerical activities including inspection and repair.
• Assure customer and code driven requirements are met.
• Witness/audit of NDE activities, assure that qualified folks are utilizing the proper tools in good working condition and employing the correct techniques. (Vacuum box, LPT, MPT, MFL, SMFL, AUT, etc.)
• Assure that Quality Control packages are properly assembled and assembled in a timely fashion as the tank work progresses.
• Coordinate with client project managers on various tank repair projects.
• Act as Tank Entry Supervisor on various tank activities.
• Review drawings with repair contractor; ensure repairs are performed per drawings, per API code.
• Also ensure projects are complete on time and safely.
• Coordinate with various contractors throughout the project, moving contractors in and out.
• Perform walkthroughs will client field departments to make sure adequate repairs were completed.
• Track manpower on all active projects daily.
• Track progress on all active projects daily.
• Perform monthly DOT visual inspections.
• Keep track of all DOT paperwork throughout duration of job.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must have current API 653 certification with a minimum of 5years’ experience.
• Must be knowledgeable in midstream/gas plant/NGL type equipment.
• Must be familiar with in-service and out-of-service tank inspection
• Must be able to work independently.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record (required)
• TWIC card (required)
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft software, and various IDMS platforms.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Additional API certifications (API 510/570) and/or CWI certification
• API Tank Entry Supervisor (TES)
• Additional certifications (NACE, ACI) a plus
• ACAD experience is a plus.
• Relevant inspection certifications such as RT, UTSW, MT, PT, ET, IR, TOFD, PA, VT Level II are also considered a plus
