Summary
Interview and evaluate donors to determine eligibility for apheresis platelet and RBC donations. Prepare donors for and perform phlebotomy, including post-collection assessment prior to patient release. Schedule donors by telephone for apheresis platelets or RBCs. Minimum of one (1) year phlebotomy experience required. Apheresis experience preferred. Excellent guest relation skills, ability to work well with others on a team, and organizational skills are essential. Must have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously; follow-up skills are also needed. Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required. Ability to handle the emotional and mental demands of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, general motion including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity, near visual acuity, and ability to discern colors. May involve contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
