Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Therapeutic Apheresis Nurse to provide 1-on-1 patient care in a specialty area. You will travel to hospitals and Red Cross sites, performing therapeutic apheresis procedures and collaborating with physicians to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse with CPR certification.
• Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and work experience.
• Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing.
• Good venipuncture skills and ability to explain procedures to patients and families.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform autonomous apheresis procedures in multiple settings including critical care and ER.
• Perform venipunctures and access central venous catheters and ports.
• Perform all phases of therapeutic apheresis and explain procedures to patients and families.
• Act as a consultant to external health care personnel about clinical apheresis.
• Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis using nursing process and tests.
• Coordinate with physicians and nurses across hospitals to arrange treatments.
• Evaluate medications for compatibility and safety of the procedure.
• Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment.
