Job summary

Fairstead, a nationwide real estate company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee day-to-day property upkeep and protect the physical assets of our communities. You will inspect, maintain, and repair buildings and systems, ensuring safety and compliance across the portfolio.

The role requires practical maintenance skills, the ability to work on-call, and a focus on resident experience and asset preservation.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical skills to perform repairs and fixtures.
• Knowledge of electricity to diagnose problems and perform minor repairs.
• General maintenance skills to support daily operations of the property.
• Strong verbal and written communication for clear information delivery.
• Prior experience as a Service Technician or similar role preferred.
• HVAC certification (CMRP or equivalent) preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment regularly for repairs and improvements.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed to maintain property assets.
• Enforce maintenance policies and standards to prevent misuse of appliances.
• Ensure properties are safe for occupants, visitors, and workers.
• Clean and prepare vacated spaces for new tenants and move-in readiness.
• Check electrical wiring for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Verify safety systems and devices are functioning monthly.
• Join on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.

Fairstead is hiring a Maintenance Technician to maintain the day-to-day operations and assume responsibility for maintaining the property's physical assets.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment regularly for needed repairs and improvements.
• Perform necessary preventative maintenance and repairs on the property as needed.
• Implement maintenance policies and standards to prevent misuse of property appliances.
• Ensure that properties are safe and avoid any danger to their occupants, visitors, and workers.
• Clean and prepare vacated buildings and rooms for new occupants to move in.
• Check electrical wiring for accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Check safety systems and devices for operational effectiveness monthly.
• Participate in the on-call rotation. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance problems that may require attention outside of normal working hours.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
