Job summary

Paradise Oaks Youth Services is seeking a Facility Manager/Registered Counselor to oversee day-to-day operations of the group home in Citrus Heights, CA. Responsibilities include direct youth care, supervision of residential staff, and ensuring compliance with licensing and internal policies.

The role requires AOD counseling certification or eligibility, and relevant experience with youth in a residential setting.

Qualifications

  • Certified AOD counselor or Registered Counselor with any certifying organization to obtain certification as an AOD counselor.
  • One year of full-time experience, or its equivalent, working with the client group to be served; OR Two years experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home performing those duties specified in Section 84065.2(c); OR Completion with a passing grade, from an accredited or approved college or university, of 15 college semester or equivalent quarter units in behavioral science, 9 units of which must be in courses relating to children with behavioral problems which may be the result of abuse, neglect, or emotional trauma.

  • Organize employee orientations and in-service trainings as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with Paradise Oaks Youth Services policies and state regulations.

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the Facility Manager/ Registered Counselor is responsible for the day to day operations of the facility. This includes the direct care and supervision of the youth, completion of all scheduled AOD groups and services under their scope of practice, documentation of services in county electronic health record, supervision of assigned residential counselors, implementation of the behavior modification program, and daily documentation regarding youth behaviors. The Facility Manager/ Registered Counselor ensures the facility complies with Community Care Licensing, Title 22 Regulations, Paradise Oaks Youth Services (POYS) policies & procedures, and other applicable regulations and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Management of group home environment and physical plant during assigned shifts.
  2. Direct supervision of residential counselors and program activities including housekeeping, personal hygiene, recreation, mealtime, visiting, etc. Includes enforcement of all program rules and expectations.
  3. In coordination with the therapist, completion of ASAM assessments as appropriate
  4. Conduct all scheduled AOD services assigned and document services in youths’ electronic health record
  5. Conduct employee orientations and/or in-service training as requested.
  6. Compliance with the program statement, Paradise Oaks Youth Services, the State of California Department of Social Services and other applicable regulations and procedures.
  7. Review of youth packets with other team members and recommendation of appropriate actions to higher authority.
  8. Participation, with social work staff and others, in the preparation of comprehensive statements of individual Needs and Services plans/Individual Treatment Plans, including periodic reviews, modifications, and reporting of progress thereon.
  9. Establishment and/or following of prescribed procedures to insure that clients receive necessary support, supervision, clinical, and administrative services to provide quality therapeutic experiences. Includes performance or delegation of specific shift duties including security checks, room checks, continual supervision of residents, housekeeping, dining room, and activities.
  10. Dispensing of medication in a timely and accurate fashion in accordance with doctor's orders, nursing training, and per POYS’s Medication Policy.
  11. Implementation of residents' individual treatment plans.
  12. Assistance with clients' homework and academic activities.
  13. May perform minor household maintenance functions and/or submit work requests for maintenance department actions.
  14. Responsible for written and oral evaluations and reviews of all assigned subordinate employees.
  15. Completion of other duties consistent with the above as may be periodically assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

  2. One year of full-time experience, or its equivalent, working with the client group to be served; OR Two years experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home performing those duties specified in Section 84065.2(c); OR Completion with a passing grade, from an accredited or approved college or university, of 15 college semester or equivalent quarter units in behavioral science, 9 units of which must be in courses relating to children with behavioral problems which may be the result of abuse, neglect, or emotional trauma. The courses may include, but are not limited to curriculums in Corrections, Psychology, Social Work, or Social Welfare.
  3. Must be able to interrupt physical altercations, respond to injury and/or life-threatening crises, hear interactions among residents or call for assistance from staff, to walk, run, climb, lift 25 lbs., speak clearly, give clear and concise directions, and use their mental faculties to make appropriate judgments in all areas that affect major life activities of child care and protection.
  4. Successful completion of Pro-ACT certification within 3 months of employment.
  5. Valid California Driver's License required; must meet agency requirements for driving a van.
