Job summary

Central York School District's North Hills Elementary School is seeking a Title I Instructional Assistant to work with teachers, focusing on reading and math interventions for Title I students in small groups or one-on-one settings.

The role involves supporting a reading specialist, developing instructional materials, and maintaining Title I records. A high school diploma or GED is required, with PA background checks as part of eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possess an associate's degree or higher OR two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits) OR CAPE test OR local assessment acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies, as assigned.
• Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
• Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment and climate conducive to learning.
• Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
• Maintain inventory of Title I materials, including duplication of resources.
• Help maintain Title I records.
• Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice as needed.
• Help maintain a positive classroom climate, fostering understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
• Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.

The Title I Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide targeted instructional support in small groups or one‑on‑one settings, focusing on reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required:
• Possess an associate's degree or higher
• Have completed two years of post‑secondary study (48 college credits)
• Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the CAPE test
• Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the local assessment
• Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and have good communication skills
• Must have (or willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks

Hourly Rate: $14.40-$19.15

• Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer.
