  • Meet background clearance requirements per Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and uphold school rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in efficient school operation as directed by the principal.
  • Respect confidentiality of information about students and staff.
  • Assist in fostering positive student attitudes toward citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
  • Report for duty 15 minutes before school opens and stay 10 minutes after close unless contract specifies otherwise.
  • Plan regularly with assigned teacher.
  • Work with individuals and groups of students as assigned.
  • Assist in student testing activities as assigned.
  • Keep charts/records of student performances; assist in preparing materials for a positive learning environment.
  • Perform clerical tasks including inventory, filing, typing; operate audiovisual equipment; care for equipment/materials.
  • Assist teacher with basic physical and health needs of students.
  • Take necessary precautions to ensure safety and welfare of students.
  • Attend and participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with staff, parents, and community.
  • Promote good public relations for the school system; maintain confidentiality of school-related business.
  • Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies.
  • Assume other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB TITLE: Anticipated Itinerant Instructional Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent and academic competency in basic skills.
  2. Must hold an Associate’s Degree (or)

a. Have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours of study at a regionally accredited institution of higher education. (or)

b. Have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education approved WORKKEYS test.

  1. Adequate strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including lifting, stooping, and bending.
  2. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships
  3. Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statues and State Board of Education regulations.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  14. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with school staff, parents, and community.
  15. Promote good public relations for school system with the general public. Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related business.
  16. Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies.
  17. Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
