Job summary

Perrysburg School District is seeking an Anticipated Cafeteria Monitor for Toth Elementary. This 3‑hour daily position runs 11:10 am–2:10 pm, Monday–Friday, on a 183‑day contract. Pay is $16.55 per hour and reporting to the Principal.

The monitor will supervise students during lunch, enforce policies, sanitize tables, and coordinate with custodial staff. Must have a High School Diploma and clear BCII/FBI checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students during lunch and enforces school policies to maintain order.

• Moves around cafeteria to ensure coverage and supervision.
• Reports incidents to appropriate staff and assists with follow-up.
• Monitors safety by watching for troubling behavior and communicates concerns.
• Follows district crisis plans to respond to emergencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Principal.

Job Objective

Monitors students during lunch time for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students; works collaboratively with the custodial staff to maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the cafeteria.

Essential Functions

• Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students during the time that students are in the cafeteria area.
• Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of campus activities and or injury to involved parties.
• Washes and sanitizes tables between lunch lines and rearranges and cleans chairs as needed.
• Supervise by movement to be with children to assure coverage of cafeteria.
• Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed.
• Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem. Report concerns to an administrator.
• Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
• Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
• Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
• Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
• Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
• Conduct other duties related to the monitor's position as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor or Principal.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Administrator
• Must obtain Student Monitor License through Ohio Department of Education

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCII and FBI
• Self-directed and able to learn quickly
• Ability to manage students in a fast-paced environment
• Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
• Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance
• Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities required

• Skills to operate equipment used for cleaning (i.e. broom, mop)
• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to read and follow instructions
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions
• Possess knowledge of security and emergency procedures

• Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue

• Duties may require the ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds
